Brunch wedding at Morton Arboretum, Chicago, IL
While Chicago isn’t the first place you think of for a ‘destination’ wedding, it was a destination for me! While the couple was raised in Chicago, they both lived in Columbus when they started dating. Holding their wedding near Chicago made sense for all the family members traveling in. Hiring a mid-western photographer to travel to their wedding made sense too! Did you know that hiring a midwest photographer to travel to your wedding can be less than hiring someone in the area? Even better if you’re picking your photographer for their art first, and investment second. That’s a win-win.
I had the pleasure of meeting these two gentle souls in Columbus, and was thrilled to be able to travel to their hometown for their wedding. We got the chance to hike at one of their favorite spots during their engagement session in the fall, then soak up the incredible blooming beauty of spring of their wedding at Morton’s Arboretum. They really prioritized their couple’s portraits, carving out two hours (split before an after the celebration) to really see every bit of the gardens. What. a. DREAM.
The groom chose to get ready in his childhood home, with his father by his side. Talk about tear jerking memories!
The bride got ready in a suite at the Arboretum. I was loving the castle vibes of the room- it really added to the fairy-tale-in-the garden feeling.
This reception was capped off with a surprise performance of Simply the Best. Two of his close friends stepped in as back dancers and really took their role seriously- no one was expecting the dance ribbons!
